Biography
Ehsaas Mehta is a PhD researcher at GCAS College Dublin whose work explores trauma in dysfunctional family environments and what is presented through social media.
She believes that it is different to study trauma, but to witness it in the patient becomes very complex as it becomes an emotional experience both creating the therapist as well as deconstructing therapist s self into the vulnerable, helpless human being. This has provided Ehsaas the vulnerability to look into herself and her emotions as she reflects on them both through her study as well as through her profession.
Ehsaas holds a Bachelor ‘s degree in Psychology Honours as well as a Master ‘s degree in Psycho Social Clinical Studies. She wrote her dissertation on domestically abused women, and the psychological impact of violence in their families.
Ehsaas has spent four years in the mental health field working with patients experiencing trauma, grief, and abuse in India. She has her private practice wherein she engages with patients of different social, political, economic, backgrounds.
Her doctoral research investigates the role of families in the life of young adults based on the dynamics of the parents with the children. And how do these young adults find their identity in spite of the dysfunctionality and the trauma from the family members.
