Luce Irigaray, PhD

Biography


Luce Irigaray is a Belgian-born French philosopher, psychoanalyst, and feminist theorist whose work has profoundly influenced contemporary philosophy, psychoanalysis, and gender theory. Known for her critical engagement with the Western philosophical canon and Freudian and Lacanian traditions, she explores sexual difference, embodiment, language, and ethics in works such as Speculum of the Other Woman, This Sex Which Is Not One, and An Ethics of Sexual Difference. Professor Irigaray taught a GCAS seminar in Paris in 2016.
