Photography, Historical Processes, Art & Psychoanalysis, Art History

"Jackie Neale (TSOA ’94), NYU CLACS Fellow, approaches photography as both a craft and a living conversation—one shaped by decades of making, teaching, and curating work in visual storytelling and human connection. A multidisciplinary photographer, professor, and curator, she has spent more than twenty years shaping visual culture through roles at institutions including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York Film Academy, and Saint Joseph’s University, alongside a wide-ranging studio practice that spans commercial work and long-form documentary projects. Her photographic series—among them Crossing Over: Immigration Stories, Bullet the Blue Sky, Embodied Experience, I’m Sorry | I Love You | Thank You, A Woman’s Right, and #SubwaySeries—reflect a sustained interest in how images can hold complexity, emotion, and lived experience at once. Across artist residencies, lectures, grants, and international exhibitions, her work consistently explores using art as a catalyst for change." - NYU Alumni Profiles 2026
