PhD in Humanities & Social Sciences

critical pedagogy, post-Soviet studies, embodied geographies, post-colonialism

I have taught English for over 30 years. I hold an MA in English Literature from Northumbria University (UK), a Cambridge DELTA, and a PhD in Educational Studies. My research interests include the sociology of emotions, the sociology of migration, decolonial and postcolonial studies, and the critical discourse analysis of language education materials. My current doctoral research examines how Russian-speaking women displaced from post-Soviet national republics into Russia itself experience a "double unrecognisability" — first through the collapse of the social order that once made them legible, then through the failure of recognition they encountered on arrival — and how the body, through objects, scent, and dream, becomes the last site where a displaced self continues to be recognised.
