This applies from the first line of your application onward. Every application, essay, seminar paper, thesis, and dissertation submitted to GCAS must be written by you, the researcher-student. Work generated by artificial intelligence and presented as your own is not acceptable at any stage, in any programme.
This is not a technicality. A GCAS degree certifies that you did the thinking — that you read the sources, formed the argument, and defended it. Work produced by a machine certifies nothing, and a credential built on it is worth nothing to the person holding it.
Submissions found to be AI-generated will be rejected, and enrolled researchers may face dismissal. If you are unsure where the line falls for a particular task, ask your supervisor before you submit — we would far rather have that conversation early.
