Architectural Representation, Visual Culture, Architectural Collage, AI-generated Imagery, and Authorship & Originality

Amy Gorissen is a qualified architect with a background in design, architectural representation, and earth-building construction, alongside extensive experience as a language teacher. An avid traveller and lifelong learner, she has taken part in architectural workshops around the world and currently teaches across the Environmental Design program at Yunnan University in Kunming, China.

Her research examines how the digital era—particularly AI image-generating technology—is reshaping architectural representation through the lens of the architectural collage, and how this shift is transforming design practices. She is especially interested in how AI and emerging tools are pushing the boundaries of architectural storytelling, raising critical questions about originality, authorship, and representation; how architects can engage critically with these tools; and the risks posed by AI-generated architectural imagery.
