The GCAS 2026/2027 Faculty: A “Who’s Who” of Contemporary Thought Defying the Academic Debt Model

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Global Centre for Advanced Studies (GCAS) Announces 2026/2027 Faculty: A “Who’s Who” of Contemporary Thought Defying the Academic Debt Model

DUBLIN, IRELAND – July 16, 2026 – GCAS College Dublin, the world’s first debt-free, EU-accredited institution co-owned by its faculty and graduates, today announced its teaching roster for the 2026/2027 academic year. Featuring interdisciplinary, world-leading thinkers, the announcement signals a major escalation in the institution’s mission to de-commodify higher education.

As traditional universities face mounting criticism over skyrocketing tuition and administrative bloat, GCAS is doubling down on its “Academic Commons” model. The 2026/2027 faculty includes some of the most influential intellectuals of the 21st century, offering students direct access to the thinkers currently shaping the fields of philosophy, psychoanalysis, and political theology.

2026/2027 Featured Faculty Includes:

  • Chris Hedges: Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and social critic.
  • Silvia Federici: Legendary feminist theorist and political philosopher
  • Avital Ronell: Leading figure in Deconstructive Theory and Literature
  • Simon Critchley: Renowned philosopher (Philosophy, Ethics, Continental Thought)
  • Franco “Bifo” Berardi: Influential media theorist and autonomist.
  • Bracha L. Ettinger: Artist, philosopher, and pioneer of Matrixial Theory.
  • Catherine Keller & John D. Caputo: Titans of Process and Radical Theology.
  • Bruce Fink & Jamieson Webster: World-leading Lacanian psychoanalysts.
  • Isabel Millar & Peter Sjöstedt-Hughes: Innovators in AI ethics and the philosophy of mind.

“The 2026/2027 faculty at GCAS represents something the corporate university cannot offer: thinkers who are genuinely free,” said Dr. Creston Davis, Chancellor of GCAS College Dublin. “Free from the administrative machinery that turns scholars into content producers, and free to engage the most urgent questions of our time — AI, ecological collapse, the crisis of democracy, the future of the human. We built GCAS on the premise that education is a shared human right, not a financial instrument. This faculty is the proof of concept.”

Engaged Research for Uncertain Times

The  GCAS 2026/2027 curriculum focuses on interdisciplinary research addressing the most pressing crises of our time:

  • The Philosophy of AI and Technics: Investigating the ethical and subjective implications of automated intelligence.
  • Psychoanalysis and the Human Condition: Clinical and theoretical explorations of the psyche within semiocapitalism.
  • Political Theology: Reimagining justice and community through radical traditions.
  • Social Transformation: Addressing ecological collapse and the restructuring of the global economy

What Makes GCAS Different?

  • Debt-Free & Accredited: GCAS provides EU-accredited degrees (BA, MA, PhD) through a model that eliminates the need for student loans, with tuition-reduction scholarships available to all accepted applicants.
  • Co-Ownership: In a radical departure from corporate academia, graduates become co-owners of the college upon completion of their degrees, gaining a literal stake in the institution’s future.
  • Borderless Education: While headquartered in Dublin, GCAS operates as a decentralized global network. Students engage in live, interactive seminars from anywhere in the world, supplemented by in-person residencies in intellectual hubs like Florence and Paris.
  • Research for the Public Good: Instead of “gatekeeping” knowledge, GCAS focuses on interdisciplinary research that addresses the most pressing crises of our time, from AI disruption and late capitalism to ecological collapse.

Applications for the 2026/2027 academic year are now open. Prospective researchers and students are invited to join a community where education is treated as a shared human right rather than a consumer product.
