Maiwand Rohani is a humanitarian leader, organisational builder, and doctoral researcher with over eighteen years of experience working across conflict-affected and crisis contexts in Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt, Ukraine, and Palestine. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the International Network for Aid, Relief and Assistance (INARA), a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) humanitarian organisation founded in 2015 by award-winning journalist Arwa Damon. Under his leadership, INARA delivers integrated, child-centred programming across seven countries, combining life-saving medical and rehabilitative care, mental health and psychosocial support, education in emergencies, WASH, livelihood interventions, and rapid emergency response for children affected by conflict, displacement, and disaster.

Prior to INARA, Maiwand held senior field leadership roles with some of the world's foremost international humanitarian organisations, including CARE International, ChildFund International, Save the Children, the International Rescue Committee, and FHI 360. These roles placed him at the forefront of humanitarian response across some of the most complex and politically sensitive operating environments of the past two decades, building his reputation as a practitioner capable of designing, managing, and scaling programmes under conditions of acute uncertainty and institutional pressure.

Maiwand holds dual citizenship and is based in Istanbul, Turkey. He is a published author of a five-book series on the humanitarian sector, drawing on his extensive field experience to contribute to professional knowledge and practice across the sector. He is currently completing a Doctor of Philosophy at GCAS College Dublin, where his doctoral dissertation examines the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis on Turkish society and politics, with original fieldwork conducted across six urban sites in Turkey. His research has been supervised by Dr. Martin Gerald O'Reilly and reviewed by the office of Chancellor Dr. Creston Davis.

Maiwand brings to his work a rare combination of field credibility, institutional leadership, and academic rigour — grounded in lived experience of the humanitarian contexts he studies and serves.
