Cultural & Medical Anthropology
Katia Belousova completed her Ph.D. at Rice University (2012) with a degree in Cultural Anthropology and an additional certification in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She is interested in alternatives in medicine, education, and lifestyles both as an academic and an activist. She has multiple publications on the practices of reproduction, intentional communities, and utopian projects, and she helped organize various alternative education initiatives in New York City.
For almost 20 years, she has been teaching at the City University of New York, where she teaches courses in Cultural/Medical Anthropology, Gender/Sexuality, and Russian Studies. She is a world traveler who considers deep immersion during her travels an important part of her job.
