About Peter
Peter D. Mathews is a tenured Professor of English Literature in the Department of English Language and Literature at Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea.
He completed a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies at Monash University, one of Australia’s premier research universities, in 2002. His research focuses mainly on modern British fiction, Australian literature, and critical theory.
Publications
His first book, Lacan the Charlatan, examines ideas about mastery and authority as they appear in the work of Jacques Lacan, the famous French psychoanalyst. It was published in the Palgrave Lacan Series in 2020.
His current book project, titled English Magic and Imperial Madness, is an in-depth examination of Susanna Clarke’s bestselling novel Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.
