She works as a psychotherapist in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her training and academic background include contemplative psychology, gender studies, peace studies, and psychoanalysis. She completed a fellowship and is currently continuing studies at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society & Institute.
Milay's research interest is in the unconscious exchange of intrapsychic material and subjective states between analyst and analysand within the analytic encounter, and the relationship of this phenomenon to Eastern philosophical and quantum physics’ descriptions of the nature of reality. She is also interested in the application of a phenomenological methodology for direct observation of emergent states of experience within the analytic encounter. In addition, Milay is a meditation practitioner and certified yoga teacher, and is interested in the use of creative devices such as writing poetry and electronic music production as modes of self-inquiry.
